Samsung takes wraps off its iPhone rival Serenata

Samsung Electronics and audio product maker Bang & Olufsen on Tuesday unveiled their latest joint music-mobile phone, Serenata, which holds 4G bytes of songs and has a number of other music features similar to the iPhone.
The handsets will go on sale in Europe by the end of the month, said Anthony Lee, a spokesman at Samsung. Pricing has not yet been determined. .

Nokia Gets LBS Directions from Navteq

Nokia calls the location-based services gained from its purchase of Navteq key to its move into mobile services.

Nokia's $8.1 billion purchase of digital mapmaker Navteq marks a major move by the world's largest handset maker to establish a new beachhead in location-based services. According to analyst Jack Gold, the acquisition is critical to the long-term growth of the Finnish company.

Apple unleashes new "Seed Update" for Leopard testers

Apple Inc. on Monday provided its developer community with yet another small update to its upcoming Leopard operating system, this time adding a couple of bug fixes and proceeding with tests on the system's software update mechanism.

The 1.5MB update, labeled "Mac OS X Leopard 9A557 and 9A559 Seed Update 1.0," was recommended for all users testing Mac OS X Leopard build 9A557 or 9A559, but did not represent a new build in itself, according to people familiar with the matter.
